HIGHLIGHTS
Robert was a very successful motocross rider from 1967 until his retirement in 1978. He was hooked at his first race in the mud and the rain at a Halifax track and from there raced all over the Atlantic Provinces until his last race in Newfoundland on July 5, 1978, when he decided that he should call it quits. During his career, he was tagged “one of PEI’s top motorcycle racers” and collected many first, second, and third place trophies. He was well-known as an excellent sportsman and in 1975 received his most treasured award as the Atlantic Provinces Sportsman Rider of the Year – a trophy donated by one of his racing heroes, Joe Bolger.
