They ran Adriaan’s Bike Shop in Moncton on Mountain Road for more than 50 years for Motorcycle & ATV Sales; Service, 4-wheeler. Their specialties were Motorcycles, Motor Scooters, All-Terrain Vehicles, New & Second Hand Sales. Whenever a group of Motorcycle riders came to Moncton the Van Egmond’s were right there to greet them and help them in any way they can. At the races, Adriaan was a competitor, referee, flagman or mechanic. Lorraine worked in the store from the day the store opened. Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Then on Thursday and Friday, she came back from 6 pm-9 pm. Saturdays from 9 am until 1 pm.The shop was located across the street from the Moncton High School. Lorraine welcomed the students to “hang out” in the shop. They came in and out, spending noon hour amongst friends, to them it was a place of security, acceptance, and respect, a home away from home. There were a few rules: Always shut the door, no smoking inside, respect Lorraine and her store and use good language.
