- He has spent a lifetime entertaining Maritime motorsports fans.
- He became a paraplegic at age 11 due to Polio.
- 1959 his media career began with CJCH Radio.
- 1964 first on the air show, over the years on CJCH, CHNS and CHFX.
- 1995 retired from radio.
- 1974 entered politics winning a seat as Alderman for Halifax.
- 1978 elected to Nova Scotia Legislature.
- Instrumental in implementing parking for the handicapped.
- Early 1950 became hooked on racing.
- Founder and first President of the Atlantic Motorsport Karters Association.
- Member of the Halifax Antique Car Club, honorary member of many other car clubs.
- Organized annual Soap Box Derby races in Halifax/Dartmouth.
- Tracks Jerry was behind the mic and in promotions: Drag City, Atlantic, Riverside, Onslow, Scotia Speedworld, Moosehead, Centre for Speed and the MASCAR Tour.
Honors he received for his many contributions to his community, and beyond:
- 1975 Eric Spicer Award as Halifax/Dartmouth’s most outstanding citizen.
- 1976 Vanier Award as one of five outstanding young Canadians.
- 1980 Stairs Award as NS’s most outstanding paraplegic.
- 1988 Good Skate Award from the Ice Capades for outstanding community involvement.
- 1995 Canada Medal by the Governor General of Canada for outstanding volunteer work in the community.
- Honourary member of the International Firefighters Union and countless other charities.
- 2001 Jerry was inducted into the Canadian Radio Hall Of Fame.
